JORKES

Jorkes has backed up their recent breakout success with another standout year. It has been filled with ever-more passionate sounds across the house and disco spectrum, always with a focus on representing his own LBGTQIA+ community with great authenticity. In 2024, this long-time under-the-radar star has further strengthened connections with key labels like Live at Robert Johnson and Permanent Vacation with standout new EPs. They have also been a memorable guest on influential radio shows hosted by Moxy on NTS and Tim Sweeney's legendary Beats In Space.
An ever fuller DJ diary has taken Jorkes to Berlin hotspot Panorama Bar, BLITZ Club in Munich and Frankfurt's Robert Johnson, plus Bassiani in Georgia and Basement in New York where they serve up thrilling sets rooted in classic house, disco and electro but coloured with a lifetime of experiences that elevate them to another level. With muse, lover and partner Daniel Rajcsanyi aka ParisBöhm, Jorkes has also continued their own popular monthly radio show on Radio 80000, which has a devoted fan base, and continued to hold down a DJ residency at Stuttgart's Romantica, which was featured in 2023 as RA’s ‘Club of the Week’.
Jorkes' primary creative outlet is the always fascinating Freeride Millenium label, which they co-run alongside ParisBöhm, whom Jorkes describes as their "endless source of love, joy and inspiration,". It is where they freely express themselves, their emotions and their experiences with often confrontational imagery shot by Daniel that stands it apart from the norm and reconnects with dance music's roots in marginalised communities.
German-born but Austria-based Jorkes only put out their first release in 2016, but soon started turning heads. In addition to thor releases on AUS, Live at Robert Johnson, Permanent Vacation and Freeride Millenium, they have collaborated with NIKKNAME for Ombra International, remixed for Riotvan in Leipzig and released a track on the London-based label Family Drama compilation while also having taken part in a Beatport livestream with some friends in a Vienna art gallery.
Their work for their community extends to discussions of sexual liberation and multicultural amplification and an accompanying three-part IMPACT compilation on Freeride Millennium. Jorkes also curated and released two instalments of a compilation for Queer Base, a charity organisation in Vienna that offers social services and legal counselling to LGBTQIA+ refugees who arrive in Austria.
All of this proves that music is a rich and fruitful medium for Jorkes that allows them to get behind social causes, involve themselves in dialogue with like-minded people around the world and convert their life's rich happenings into something with an indelible meaning.
