Overall responsible for our visual concept is lichterloh. For more than 10 years they have been shaping the face of Lighthouse Festival and it is thanks to them that the spontaneous trip to Croatia in 2013 has become an internationally recognized festival of music AND media arts.
The path of the duo is inextricably intertwined with the history of the former Pratersauna and the creation of Lighthouse Festival itself. Looking back on almost two decades of art creation, our curators invite several artists each year to develop visual concepts for the many stages and off-locations, as well as to create - mostly gigantic - media installations themselves.
lichterloh is a research-based artist studio in Vienna experimenting with digital technologies using space, light and transformation as their basic tools, oscillating between stage and exhibition spaces. They create stage sets, media art, live visual performances and interactive installations that fuse art and technology.
Best known for their live visual performances, lichterloh have been around the globe alongside acts such as Grandmaster Flash, Dixon, James Murphy, Die Antwoord, Tiga and at events and venues such as Arte Concert Night Paris, Sonar Barcelona, Mutek Tokyo, Melt! Berlin, Sony Hall NYC and many more. They've done projection mapping on the Great Wall of China, developed stage designs for numerous festivals like Outline Moscow, of course LHF and created live visual shows for Austrian electronic music band HVOB and OG’s Kruder & Dorfmeister.
Their works have been shown at institutions such as the Austrian Cultural Forum NYC, Goldsmiths College London, Ars Electronica Center Linz, Parallel Vienna, Festival of Tolerance Zagreb, and in the permanent collection of the Jewish Museum Vienna and Dorotheum Vienna.
